It all started with developing the Bridge Card Reader, the worlds first automated playing card detection and broadcasting system. By now we use our expertise in computer vision to develop custom systems, software and products for our clients. We have worked on more than 50 different projects, ranging from a couple of weeks to years of time.
Whether it is automatically gathering information during sports matches or the optimisation of industrial processes, our systems turn slow, labour intensive processes into streamlined real time data.
Our systems are not only able to automate. With computer vision it is also possible to create natural and magical interactions by interpreting movement from people.
Our team is a combination of computer vision software engineers with experience in Artificial Intelligence, networking, system administration, database management, hardware design and camera optics
Guust Hilte is a skilled system integrator, project manager and co-founder. In 2010 Guust graduated with ‘excellence’ and received a master’s degree in Industrial Design at the Eindhoven University of Technology. For his graduation he designed and developed a product that focused on providing an alternative to text entry on mobile devices which generated a lot of media attention. Guust also has experience in starting, running and then selling his own webhosting company. With an expertise in combining technology and product design Guust started Studio diip and now tends to focus more on the technological aspects next to running the company.
Thomas de Wolf is an expert in learning-algorithms, business manager and co-founder. Thomas’ graduation project was a product that was able to learn by watching its surroundings with image recognition. He received his master’s degree in Industrial Design with this project at the Eindhoven University of Technology. This and earlier projects sparked an interest in image recognition and learning systems which in turn led to starting Studio diip. Next to his education Thomas has specialised in business processes and start-ups. Within Studio diip Thomas is more active in the communication to the outside next to running the company.
Jop received a masters degree in Biology from Utrecht University and specialized in Theoretical Biology and Bioinformatics for his PhD-research. At Studio diip he uses his knowledge of biological systems to provide intuitive and efficient solutions for computer vision challenges. Jop’s skills include computer vision, software development, data analysis and mathematical modeling of non-linear processes.
Leon joined Studio diip while finishing his Bachelor in Applied Computer Science at Hogeschool Utrecht. He works as a software developer where he applies his knowledge of computer vision, artificial intelligence and app development to develop smart software solutions.
Diederik has a Bachelors diploma at the University of Delft and almost has a Masters diploma from Leiden University in Life Science & Technology. He quickly became more interested in the technology part and is now working as a developer.
José finished his Master of Science in the field of Information Systems and Computer Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon. For his masters he focused on the areas of Intelligent Systems as well as Data Processing and Analysis. During his thesis he developed a growing interest in Computer Vision, leading him to work at Studio diip.
Tim has a Bachelor‘s and Master’s degree in Industrial Design at the Eindhoven University of Technology. During his Master program he specialized in product design for healthcare. Tim has a broad interest in the technology behind products and their development processes, supported by a multi-disciplinary skill set. At Studio diip Tim works on computer vision projects.
With his experience at Oracle, Gerard started his own company Transfer Solutions in 1995. Since then Transfer Solutions has grown to a company with more than 140 employees focussing on database development, management and consultancy.
Studio diip was founded in Eindhoven by Guust Hilte and Thomas de Wolf after graduating from the Eindhoven University of Technology. Their first project was to develop an automated playing card recognition system, that later turned into the Bridge Card Reader.
While developing the Bridge Card Reader Studio diip gets a chance to relocate to the High Tech Campus, because the innovative idea matches the vision of the campus and Brainport region Eindhoven in general.
The Bridge Card Reader makes its debut at the World Bridge Chapmpionships in Veldhoven. Later it would continue to be used in many more countries like France, Croatia and China.
Because Studio diip was starting to grow, the startup space of the High Tech Campus was becoming a bit too limited. Additionally more projects were being taken on that were not always close to Eindhoven. As a more central location an old school building in Leerdam was offered.
Starting out as a fun project for a week, Fish on Wheels turns into a media hype. With 1,5 million YouTube hits and featured in media worldwide like CNN, Discovery Channel, BBC and NOS.
Based on an idea co-developed at Studio diip, a separate company was founded to develop the product Beam, a smart light socket projector.
Again because of lack of space Studio diip was on the move. Now finding a location in Geldermalsen, that was more accessible through public transport and with 5 times the space of the old building.
Because of growing experience in blockchain technology, Studio diip launches a new initiative called diip Blockchain to show its capabilities in this area of expertise.
